Wii U Software Discussion

13095 Views 231 Posts Wii U
There's already a Wii U Hardware Discussion, and I couldn't really find anything relating to software in the searchbar, so I figured I'd make one to talk about rumored software appearing on the system/launch titles.

So far we've got a rumor from Blockbuster UK with 25 launch titles appearing in their database, mostly multiplatform, they're as follows:

Aliens: Colonial Marines
Assassin’s Creed
Batman: Arkham City
Darksiders II
Dirt 3
Formula 1 All Stars
Game Party
Ghost Recon Online
Just Dance 4
Killer Freaks from Outer Space
Marvel Super Heroes
Metro: Last Light
Monsters Party
New Super Mario Brothers Mii
Ninja Gaiden 3
Pikmin
Rabbids Party Land
Raving Rabbids
Rayman Legends
Shield Pose
Splinter Cell 6
Sports Connection
Tekken
Your Shape 2013
Zombie

And there's Retro Studios rumored project, which is supposably for the Wii U, and could range from them working on a new Star Fox, a new Zelda, or coming back to the Metroid Franchise and giving it its first HD installment. Or even a new IP (although that's purely speculation on my part)

Any launch hopefuls for you guys?
I am actually looking forward to playing Arkham City on the Wii U just to see what it does differently!

I believe most of that list.

Seems too early though.
I'm looking forward to all of those games based purely on what they can do with the tablet controller.

And I thought Splinter Cell was an Xbox exclusive?
....Didn't the latest Splinter Cell come out for PS3? Conviction?

LOL we were just discussing this.

en.wikipedia.org/...

Xbox 360.
The list seems pretty legit to me, but I guess we'll find out at E3.

In terms of the Retro Studios project, surely it would have to be Metroid? Nintendo want the hardcore audience back, so what better first party franchise to do it with?

Interestingly enough, Zombie was actually planned as a Wii title and was cancelled. I was doing some research for an article and accidentally stumbled upon that information.

I beg to differ.

It's a little bit hardcore? lol I don't know. I seriously doubt a Metroid Wii U for launch. SOMETHING would have been leaked by now! Blah! Someone just wake me up when E3 is on!
Nintendo fans have been wanting a new internally developed StarFox for years, so I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't hand it over to Retro after the brilliant job they've done with the Metroid Prime series and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

They could just as easily win the hardcore audience back with another franchise, I don't think it has to be Metroid to do it. Also Nintendo are aiming for 'depth' and 'width' with games, what this means is they're basically trying to capture both the hardcore audiences, along with casual players and get them both to enjoy one game.

Super Mario 3D Land is a good example of this, both casuals and hardcore gamers enjoyed the game. I really don't think Metroid would be the best series to tackle this on with.
But do you think it'll be ready for a Wii U launch release?

Probably not, unless it's been in development for a longwhile.
DKCR came out when? Late 2010?
I'd say Retro's been making their Wii U title since the first dev kits came out.
But with Pikmin 3 and Mario from Ninty I doubt there'll be any other first party launch titles.
Don't get me wrong star fox is awesome I just don't feel it has enough qualities to really be considered a hard-core game I'm all for a new game though, actually love the super Nintendo version

The very reliable wikipedia informs me that it did, and yeah. That's probably been around a year and a half of development time at max, not enough time to start and finish develop a big name HD game for one of Nintendos prime franchises.

Same, that's all they really need anyway.
Why does a launch have to be bombarded with a bunch of games for? They never work out the way they want it to.

"Hardcore" is a terrible term that should burn in hell.
99% of games people refer to as "hardcore" should be refered to as "mainstream".
I hate it so much. It's a massive blunder in the gaming community.

It's pretty much on everything besides PS3 and Wii, therefore not exclusive *folds arms*

It's even on Bada W(hatever)TF that is.
.....Eeehhh, I'll still call it exclusive.
Might be onto something here
