How to update Wii without Wifi.

A Little help please.

I have just got a Wii (PAL) and when I put in a newish game (NTSC) it asks to update.

Of course I say no.

While I have broadband at home I don't have Wifi.

So my understanding is the other way is to get a game that DOES have an update with it.

Can someone recommend me a game WITH a PAL update so I don't brick my Wii?

Help appreciated.

If it's Metroid you can update but it'll give you duplicate channels.

Did you buy MP3 or DL it? If that is the game. You can get around dup channels.

EDIT: You still need the 3.0E update though, I wouldn't finish the update with MP3 NTSC, I think that will brick it unless maybe you use WiiBrickBlocker. (What bricks the Wii is having a US update on a PAL Wii)

When I got MP3 I had to have two discs, one that was patched with WiiBrickBlocker and I would load that till around 15% of the upload and then shut it off. I then restart the Wii and put in the copy that wasn't patched and it works fine. I did end up getting a dup of the weather channel but not the news channel, only because I left if for a bit too long.

Damn I don't know what duplicate channels are.

Isn't there a way to update without ANY negative effects if you don't have Wifi?

Oops sorry I did not download any game, and not sure what MP3 has to do with Wii.

I am happy to rent or lend a game just for the purpose of updating to whatever the latest version is. I understand you can get 3.0E from Super Paper Mario BUT theres been talk of bricking and I'm not 100% confident.

Mainly you need the updates because either the game needs it or your online needs/wants it. Seeing you are not online, you don't need new internet/votes/shop etc to be updated. Maybe Super Paper Mario PAL has an update, not sure. It wouldn't be to 3.0E anyway. What game are you talking about?

EDIT: SPM has 3.0E? I suppose it could in PAL, I have the NTSC one so that was ages ago.

MP3 NTSC has the 3.0U update, that is what will brick your system, the U part, not the E. If you can get any game in PAL with an update, that is fine and will not brick your Wii.

I must add here, before I got MP3 I updated the Wii through wifi to 3.0E so that might be difficult to do if SPM isn't a 3.0E update.

LOL mp3 is a game called metroid prime 3 like rus a7 said.. dont they say on the disc cover or on the disc what firmware the games of? if it is then go to the game store and check the game with the latest update .

I don't agree with an E update bricking the Wii. I could be wrong however. U, yes for sure that can brick it.

If you had the original SPM and if it had a 3.0E update and the Wii gets bricked, Nintendo would be sued.

As long as the game is PAL and your console is PAL, there should be no problems with updating with the disc. If there is, it's Nintendo's fault. DO NOT update your PAL console with a NTSC game. A very big no no!

This is the only way you can do it without the internet.

i did tha same thing and i got the duplicate weather and news channel for mp3 but there is a way u can delete them i think
copy all your files to the sd card and take it out then format you wii
but dont leave the sd card in coz it gets formated aswell
atleast thats wat i think but i havent tried it yet and dont intend to unless some 1 tries it before me

its metroid man 2 bloddy months for it to come out was to long to handle so just downloaded it and plus i dont mind the duplicate channels i just keep them on the last page of the wii menu and they dont even work

Lol @ too long to handle. I am glad it's take this long. Titan Quest, Tony Hawk Downhill Jam, RE4, Half-Life 2, Dungeon Siege 2, Bioshock...all of these games need my attention and i want to finish them all properly. If Prime 3 came out the same time as the US, i wouldn't have time to play it anyway. Plenty of other games out there you could have played and finished while waiting for Prime 3.

well i finished re4,zelda,godfather,redsteel,dbz,trauma centre and alot of other games
the only game i didnt finish is paper mario which i realy didnt enjoy that much so HAD TO GET MP3

Cool in that case I'll just have to find a copy of a PAL game WITH a patch hopefully PAL and then I can update without a Wifi or Lan Adapter!

Theres constantly going to be new updates meaning your going to need to get a new pal game before you can play an new NTSC game in the long run it would be easy to just connect to the net if you want to keep getting NTSC games

Finished Re4? Sit down and take the time to beat my 2hr 19minute run-through lol. That'll give you something to do. Rules are:

Any Weapon can be used (dont even try it without the Chicago Typewriter and the Handcannon)
Normal Difficulty
Dont use the costume with Ashley in armor.
