Zerr confirmed that Madden NFL 08 for the Wii will be coming with online play features as rumored before, but essentially he also points at the most of the offline game modes are still available for local multiplayer. In fact, he admits that many of the modes were set up so friends can enjoy a good party game on one console.
In order to keep track of stats for one of the online features, real-time statistics, EA Sports had designed the game to attach custom Miis to teams of players. And if scoffing at the statistics gap wasn't much of a humiliation for the new, unskilled players, Madden NFL gamers can also draw their winning tactics onscreen with a Telestrator mode just to show their opponents how they lost.
EA Sports also optimized the engine for Madden NFL 08, for Wii gamers to experience the same gameplay with a 16:9, 480p finish. And that's probably not only a good thing, but essential, since EA also slapped in visual symbols to key players in a team so a gamer can easily identify their specific strengths and adjust tactics accordingly.
And what other way to do just that than by re-using the Wiimote's gestures and the new Nunchuk Audibles to call out to team members and get them to make the changes immediately. Zerr said that while some of the old control schemes were kept, many new gestures and control schemes have been introduced in Madden NFL 08, which should soon reach stores by August 2007.
