Electronic Arts is investing $80 million into "fourth-gen" console development, chief executive, John Riccitiello, told investment analysts.
Mr Riccitiello predicted future gain for console gaming in the near future, with EA hoping to expand its research and development into next-generation hardware.
As part of the company's strategy, it will have a small round of layoffs and disintegrate a number of licensed titles that it consideres to not be part of its next-generation goals.
Seeing as though only Nintendo has revealed a new console, Wii U, one can only assume that EA will be a strong supporter of the hardware.
