Could just be a pre-emptive strike to prevent some other company sailing too close to Nintendo's waters. They were probably ticked off with the chinese Vii rip-off and therefore locked up the name Zii, just in case.
Or....

Pretty much Nintendo are being pricks. The Zii isn't a ripoff Wii it's entirely different.

hmmm, interesting stuff.
Maybe this is going in a new Nintendo handheld. When they say "StemCell chip" do they mean actual organic stemcells or does it just refer to a new kind of chip architecture, coz if its made with real cells thats just a wee bit creepy (cool but still creepy)

Haha nah skidmark it's a new architecture based on how stem cells work in that it changes it's processing to fit the task, the cores of it change and retask to suit the process. It's a pretty loose metaphor but undeniably clever. They're quite powerful chips too, more similar to a gpu rather than CPU I think, parallel processing.
