Red Wii coming to Japan

To celebrate 25 years of Mario, Nintendo of Japan have announced a special Red Wii console.

It's not just any console, either. This one comes with a new Wii Remote Plus, a Wiimote with the functionality of MotionPlus inbuilt. To top it all off it comes with a special version of the NES classic Super Mario Bros. installed. To commemorate the occasion, all question marks on coins in the game have been replaced with the 25th anniversary logo.

The Red Mario Wii will go on sale in Japan on November 11 for ¥20,000 (AUD$245). Don't expect to see it released in Australia anytime soon, though; Nintendo generally keeps all the really cool stuff exclusive to Japan, but we can always hope.

Interesting... I wonder what's going to be different in-game.

Though I still think the fact that the game is pre-installed is pretty neat.

It's not NSMBW that's preinstalled, it's just Super Mario Bros. The orignal one. ;)

To top it all off it comes with a special version of New Super Mario Bros. Wii installed. That's right, a full Wii game without the need for a disc!

Just as well. Might make people 'hot under the collar'. :)

Anyway, I don't like the look of the color. Maybe a darker shade is better. At least they didn't think of a green one - that would be horrid.

Ok, thats it. You sir are officially colorblind. Either that or you're wearing some of those kiddy colored sunglasses. Because:
A) Green looks great on any system.

B) That shade of Red is Mario's shade of Red. And the only way it could look better is if it was streaked with black. [Derp] Or just imagine that 3DS color on the Wii. =D :D

To clarify it's the NES original Super Mario Bros installed. I confused it with a rumour that Europe will get it bundled with NSMBW and the original DK installed (note the rumour) and missed it editing. If we do get it here it'll most likely be that version with NSMBW however (if it exists).

@abujaffer. OK, Nintendo brought out a green DS. Didn't know that. Speaking of colors, I think a dark yellow Wii would suit. Intentional pun. :)
