Virtual consoles all over America are about to be overtaken by the SNES Star Wars phenomenon. For a measly 800 points each, Star Wars fans can get their hands on the original classic trilogy which will be released over the coming weeks.

Not only can fans download the games but as an added bonus other Wii channels will also have Star Wars content. The everybody votes channel will have questions relating to Star Wars and The Mii Channel will run a contest to see who can create the best Star Wars Mii.

Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing, Cammie Dunaway said "Our expanded partnership with LucasArts brings the Star Wars and Nintendo universes together, these three Super Star Wars games represent fantastic additions to the growing Virtual Console library, and the exclusive Star Wars content on the other Wii Menu channels is sure to have people from different generations having fun and interacting with one another."

Nintendo have also said that other LucasArts titles will be made available on the VC in the future, good news for all the LucasArts fans out there.

Hopefully Australia wont have to wait too long for the release here.

Lol pfft.

Eh, not a fan of Star Wars so I don't really care, but happy that others are happy. IE: Doss.

Oooh. I hope they come out in quick succession and not 12 months apart.

I read the 2nd sentence of the article (

Star Wars fans can get their hands on the original classic trilogy which will be released over the coming weeks

) as saying that they will be coming in quick succession.

YES! These three games are some of the best side scrolling shooters ever made for the SNES! They rank right up there next to Super Probotector (Contra 3) & Super Turrican (1 & 2)

Be warned though these games (like the other mentioned above) are for seasoned gamers, the difficulty level is punishing across the board!

I'll make a medal just for you (me and the other Rogue Squadron fans) when that happens!

And even though Shadows was a flawed game, it had moments of brilliance (the flying levels) and will be another insta-purchase for me!
sweet! i hope they bring out pod racer and shadows of the empire. plus it would be cool(even though they were not on a Nintendo console)if they brought out a slightly upgraded version of dark forces out, cause i used to have that game and i cant find it anywhere that was one of the best star wars games back in the day.i only say this cause it is rumored that the x-wing serious is coming to vc also.
I'm thinking that we'll probably see the original Star Wars Arcade game on the VC arcade. That'd be awesome news for those who are old enough to have played it.. although Star Wars and Ninty nuts would probably already own these babies as bonus games in Rebel Strike for GameCube...
thats a bit random

Hehe yeah playing them as Vader in the hanger

A Rogue Squadron medal would be awesome Well lets hope we see the game on VC before the end of the year.
The fact that these are great games is nice, I remember playing them on the snes. might dig that out and see if Ive still got them. woo hoo saving $$$$.
