Microsoft thinks Nintendo's new video game console, Wii U, is no more powerful than currently-available hardware, including its own Xbox 360.
Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios, praised Wii U’s Pro Controller, which was made specifically for “core gamers”, according to Nintendo, but compared the console’s graphical prowess to current-generation hardware
"I think their Pro Controller makes a lot of sense with the platform they've built. They are building a platform that is effectively a 360 when you think of graphical capability," said Mr Spencer.
Because of the console’s capabilities, Mr Spencer believes Wii U will see a lot of third-party support and ports of Xbox 360 games, particularly because of the 360-like Pro Controller.
They've moved the buttons around, and they've made a controller that feels familiar for 360 gamers, so I get why they are putting those pieces together," he said.
