Wii U launching worldwide for 'year-end season'

After Nintendo's earnings release today, president Satoru Iwata revealed that the Wii U will have a worldwide launch later this year.

Iwata said that the Wii U will be released in the US, Europe, Australia, and Japan "for the year-end season" at roughly the same time, reports Reuters.

Nintendo has previously narrowed the launch window from 2012 to the second half of 2012, and now the business end of the year.

However, it may not be called the Wii U. Nintendo is reportedly considering changing the name to avoid the confusion caused by the 3DS being named too similarly to its predecessor.
