Wii U priced 'reasonably', ensures Nintendo

Nintendo says the pricing for its upcoming console, Wii U, will be "reasonable".

Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, told Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun that it was integral that the console, which is set for release "holiday 2012", doesn't make the same mistakes as the 3DS.

The 3DS launched in early-2011 to critical acclaim, but with a small launch lineup and heavy price tag, consumers turned away, leading to a price cut only a few months after launch and many angry launch-day consumers.

It'll be more expensive then the PS3 and 360. Problem with that being when someone is looking to buy either the Wii U, PS3 or 360, I can guarantee that 80% will choose a PS3 or 360. Only exception being if they already own those consoles.

Just what do they mean by reasonable price? personally, I agree with above posts that it's going to be around $600 for our market (inc GST & Carbon Tax).
If that's the case, then I wish Nintendo good luck.

Even if it's $600AU i'll get it. I preordered it last Saturday, that's how eager I am for a new console.

To be competitive it will need to be around $450aus.

If its between $500-$600 only the die hard Nintendo and game players will buy it the casual crowd can get a 360 or a ps3 for $250 now with a game and at christmas probably cheaper.
