Nobody harnesses the power of their technology better than Nintendo, according to Darksiders II lead designer, Haydn Dalton.
Nintendo is set to release its Wii successor, Wii U, in late-2012, but the new console is already recieving the praise of prospective game developers.
Mr Dalton said that while Microsoft's SmartGlass feature made it seem like the Wii U GamePad was less innovative that Nintendo is making it out to be, the platform holder is making full use of the hardware better than anyone.
"The thing that Nintendo are absolute masters at is that they harness their hardware like nobody else,” he said, while referring "advanced technologies" and peripherials that are constantly being added to the scene.
“If you look at any of [Nintendo's] titles where they’re using the touch screens on the NDSs and things like that, they use it in beautiful and creative ways that make you think as a designer and a game player," continued Mr Dalton.
Nintendo has given developers something they "couldn't get anywhere else", according to Mr Dalton. It's the "simple things" that make the hardware so good to work with.
"Just simple things like finding something with dust on it and having to blow onto the screen to reveal what’s written," he explained.
Finally, Mr Dalton said that there's a "magic" in keeping things so simple. "I only get that magic when I'm playing Nintendo games."
Amen to that!
